Viewpoint Tressensteinwarte

You can easily get to the Tressenstein by car. From there you go uphill to the newly built 14 m high Tressensteinwarte in a three-quarter-hour. And it offers an exceptional panorama view. The viewing platform, built near the so-called “Kanzel”, offers a fantastic view over the urban area of ​​Bad Aussee.

The Tressensteinwarte can be reached on foot from Bad Aussee and Grundlsee.

The history of the ViewpointTressensteinwarte

In June, 1888, Empress Elizabeth stayed after a tour of the Dead Mountain in Grundlsee. From there you made a trip to the Tressenstein and was inspired by the beautiful view. In the year 1901 the construction of the Tressensteinwarte was started.
Previously, the Ausseer Alpenverein extended the routes from Altaussee and the Marktaussee to the saddle and improve. Some explosions were necessary for this. Also the very narrow path had to be broadened to the summit of the Tressenstein.
In the main, the construction of the Tressensteinwarte was financed by donations from the population and spa guests. Many events, lectures and concert halls helped raise funds. With contributions from the municipalities, the savings bank, the health commission, the workers’ consumption society and many spa guests, the necessary funds finally came together.
Almost exactly 19 years after the Empress’s visit, on June 30, 1906, the Trissensteinwarte was opened. As is surpassed, the inventor of the exhibition, the Ausseer Kaufmann Josef Nöbauer, held the opening speech. With the Liedertafel and the Bürgermusikkapelle the musical frame was provided.

In the meantime the Tressensteinwarte was newly built and is still a new magnet for residents and guests.
